Gatland proves he plays with balls

In the 1991 multiple Oscar winning movie Point Break (that may not be true. Staggeringly, ‘Point Break’ did not win any Academy Awards), one of the ex-Presidents, ‘Grommet’, is telling a story about big wave riding: “… you drop down into the pit and it’s 25 feet straight down and your balls, man, your balls are like this big!”

Balls, stones, cajones, sack, plums, bollocks…. Call them what you will, British and Irish Lions coach Warren Gatland has proven himself to have a set the size of Tasmania with his team selection for the third test against Australia this weekend; amongst other moves, dropping Ireland and Lions legend Brian O’Driscoll and stacking the team with 10 Welshmen. However, given the series is tied up and we’re heading into the series decider, Gatland’s balls might wind up shrivelled up like raisins, much like Grommet’s, come Saturday, because outside of a Rugby World Cup final or maybe semifinal, a Lions series decider is probably the biggest match in rugby.
